MEET TODD HOUGHTON
HI THERE, I’M TODD!
The first significant injury I endured was when I was 15...
Having grown up in a Catholic community, the natural approach was to have a priest heal my leg. Miraculously, my leg healed in one week, faster than anything I had witnessed up to that point.
I had been taking painkillers every three to four hours. The pain was intense and all consuming. The couch became my home, as I was unable to move.
When the priest finally showed up, he placed his hand delicately on my leg. I didn’t know what was really happening nor what it all meant at the time.
As he raised his hand, the pain I had endured, that had seeped into every corner of my body and mind, was gone.
I went to a follow-up appointment with my doctor to have an x-ray. To say the doctor was bewildered is an understatement.
He had no medical explanation for how I was healed so well and so quickly. I didn’t know the impact of that moment until much later when Father Al wrote a book.
He included me in his book, explaining how he healed me. Most importantly, however, and perhaps life altering was his conviction that, because I was a witness to such healing, that healing ability had been passed down to me.
That was my moment, when I believed I had the ability to heal.
More importantly, I realized that healing is far beyond the physical, the complexities of healing reach deep into the mind and spirit, and require the mind and body to work in tandem and harmony.
As I continued my journey, I found myself constantly curious about those around me.
As a paperboy, people on my route would offer me breakfast because I would engage and listen, intrigued by their stories. Building solid and meaningful relationships was what mattered most to me.
I also became fascinated by the human body. I knew there was a way to help others, merging my desire to connect with others while also working with the human body, something I found so complex and captivating.
I pursued my passion fearlessly and eventually opened my own physical therapy facility. This was an awakening for me, as I quickly realized I could heal people’s bodies, but at the same time strengthen their minds.
A strong mind is necessary in complete physical healing. I saw myself as a counselor and mind coach as patients lay on my table.
Working to treat their injuries became only half of what I was doing; I was simultaneously unlocking the obstacles in their minds, tucked away in unseen corners, that were hindering progress and contributing to injuries.
My hope is that I can help people to move with purpose in a way that fosters strength and mobility and minimizes injury, while also helping people to unlock their true potential and strengthen their mind.
We are only as strong as our mind allows us to be, and there are no limits when we have a sharp mind and an efficient body, allowing us to navigate effortlessly toward our best life.
